How many years of mental health billing experience do you have?
Dr Jolien Connor, founder and owner of Behavioral Health Billing, has 35 years of experience in mental health billing. The BHB team as a whole has over 65 years cumulative experience.
• Can I hire you to do only some services for me and not all services?
Definitely. We customize our services to match only what you need. Some providers only want claims submitted and denial followup, and some want more full service billing done. It’s all up to you, and we are happy to alter our processes to match your needs.
Are you located in the United States?
In the past few years, the mental health billing industry has shifted, allowing more and more providers to do much of their own billing. Some therapists would prefer to be able to ask a biller for help only once in a while, instead of contracting for daily services. Thus was born Ask a Biller.
What billing software do you work with?
We currently have clients who are using Simple Practice and Practice Mate, but are willing to work with any software, so long as we are provided with login credentials.
Can I hire you just for one billing concern and then ask for more services if I want later?
Yes, that’s no problem at all. Ask A Biller is a premium service you can use for occasional billing help with no ongoing commitment.
What are the rates for Billing Services work and Ask a Biller?
When contracted with Behavioral Health Billing for a set of ongoing services, the charge is $40/hour. For Ask A Biller Premium Concierge Service, the charge is $60/hour.

For nearly a decade, Behavioral Health Billing has participated in a local mental health billers group in Madison, Wisconsin. The community, collaboration, and shared knowledge in this group inspired Jolien to create similar localized support networks for billers across the United States.

As the industry evolves, more providers are taking on parts of their own billing. Many therapists only need occasional guidance rather than full-service billing support. Ask A Biller was created to give them flexible, expert help — only when they need it
